We have three participating agencies this evening. Tours and talks begin at 6:00 pm on the 24th! Choose ONE of the three agencies:

Sistering

Address: 761 Queen St West (Bathurst & Queen)

Sistering is a women’s organization that offers practical and emotional support through programs which enable them to take greater control over their lives. Guided by the principles of Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression, Sistering works to change social conditions which endanger women’s welfare.

Sistering’s programs and services support homeless, low-income and marginalized women to improve their daily lives and gain greater control over their life circumstances. Their programs and services meet women’s basic needs and offer access to a wide variety of supports that allow women to stabilize their situations and make choices to achieve safety, structure and quality of life.

St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club

Address: 843 Palmerston Ave. (Bathurst & Dupont)

St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club, provides a number of innovative programs and services to meet diverse community needs including daycare, early years programs, children and youth after school programs,  sports and skill development, computer skills, arts programs, youth leadership programs, prevention and education, tutoring, mentoring,  summer and leadership camps, aquatic lessons and community programs, a homeless shelter, and outreach services to 10 satellite Clubs. St. Alban's strives to maintain and strengthen their core services to children and youth while growing to meet the varied and changing needs of their community.

St. Christopher House

Address: 248 Ossington (Dundas & Ossington)

St. Christopher House has been a neighbourhood centre in the downtown west end of Toronto since 1912. Women Gaining Ground is a new initiative established in 2008 by United Way Toronto with professional women in mind.  The purpose of Women Gaining Ground is to join together professional women in Toronto who are interested in learning more about the social issues affecting our community-particularly as they affect women and their families. Through the creation of a distinct professional women’s giving initiative, women are given the opportunity to serve both as donors and as key decision-makers.  As a result, we have seen first-hand how women can play a unique and distinct role in philanthropy and in building a vital base of human caring in our city. http://www.unitedwaytoronto.com/giving/womenGainingGround.php
